Special Edition for VitraHaus 2020

In 2020, van Donselaar created a special edition for VitraHaus in Weil am Rhein—eight clay sculptures paying homage to the iconic animal masks designed by Ray and Charles Eames.

The collection—Fox, Rooster, Cat, Frog, Elephant, Snowman, Snow Bunny, and Snow Owl—translates the playful, graphic quality of the Eames masks into three-dimensional form.

Each piece in the Facial series is entirely handmade without molds, making every sculpture unique.

Working in clay and varnish, van Donselaar maintains her intuitive approach to material and making while honoring the Eames legacy.

The edition was created to mark VitraHaus’s anniversary.
